Registering as a fuel retailer

The Tasmanian Government requires all fuel retailers selling relevant fuels to register their sites under the FuelCheck TAS real‑time price reporting system. In line with the Code of Practice for Fuel Price Reporting, retailers must report accurate, real‑time fuel price and availability information.

Do I have to register?

Yes. Any person who carries on the business of retail sale of a relevant fuel must register under the Australian Consumer Law (Tasmania) (Code of Practice for Fuel Price Reporting) Regulations 2020.

In line with the Personal Information Protection Act 2004, the Consumer, Building and Occupational Services Division of the Department of Justice, is collecting this information under the Australian Consumer Law (Tasmania) (Code of Practice for Fuel Price Reporting) Regulations 2020. Your personal information will be used for the primary source for which it is collected and may be disclosed to law enforcement agencies, courts and other organisations authorised to collect it. Your basic personal information may be disclosed to other public sector bodies where necessary for the efficient storage and use of the information. Personal information will be managed in accordance with the Personal Information Protection Act 2004 and may be accessed by the individual to whom it relates on request to Consumer, Building and Occupational Services. You may be charged a fee for this service.
